Classes
All classes are held at the Latin American Institute with no more than 6 to 8 people.
No partners required and all levels are welcome.

Merengue
There are two stories of the origin of Merengue. One alleges the dance started with slaves who were chained together and were forced to drag one leg as they cut sugar to the beat of drums. The second story tells of a great hero who was wounded in the leg during one of the revolutions in the Dominican Republic. He was welcomed home with a victory celebration and, out of sympathy, everyone dancing felt obliged to limp and drag one foot. Whiever is true, Merengue is a fun dance and easy to learn.
Salsa
Courses require fluency in spoken and written Spanish. Advanced grammar and vocabulary will be presented while the course concentrates on polishing the student's oral and writing skills and developing a sense of style.
